Specialized Student Services Comm. Program: Understanding the Alphabet Soup

October 17 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

At the Gail Borden Library

SSI, SSDI, HFS, DHS, PUNS – Understanding the Alphabet Soup for your child

This interactive informative program will focus on the four major government benefits, PUNS, and waiver programs. Navigating benefits and programs in IL can be a daunting task. This presentation will provide vital information and a timeline to help parents. The evening will end in a game of Benefit BINGO, and you will not believe all that you have learned.

Learn who needs to be on the P.U.N.S. (Prioritization for Urgency of Need for Services) List and why it is important for individuals with disabilities. Understand what the list is, how to get on it, what happens after a person is selected and other frequently asked questions about state services in Illinois.

Hosted by the School District U-46 Citizens Advisory Council, Specialized Student Services Committee.

This event will be held in the Elgin Room at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 Grove St. Elgin. All are welcome. The event is free and translation services will be provided.
